This article will guide you when purchasing a Hot and Cold Water Kitchen Tap and preparing to replace your old kitchen faucet. The installation process is simple. You only need to prepare the necessary tools and materials and follow the steps below to complete the installation easily.

Step-by-Step Guide to Installing a Kitchen Faucet

Tools & Materials Needed:

Adjustable wrench

Basin wrench

Plumber's tape (Teflon tape)

Screwdriver

Pliers

Bucket or towels

Plumber's putty (if required)

New faucet and sprayer kit  (shop easy-install models)

1. Turn Off the Water Supply

Locate the shut-off valves under the sink (hot and cold) and turn them clockwise to close.

If there are no shut-off valves, turn off the main water supply.

Open the old faucet to drain any remaining water.

2. Remove the Old Faucet

Use a wrench to disconnect the supply lines from the shut-off valves.

If a sprayer hose is present, detach it from the faucet.

Use a basin wrench to loosen the mounting nuts under the sink.

Remove the old faucet and sprayer from above the sink.

3. Prepare the Sink

Clean the sink surface, removing any old putty or debris.

If replacing a side sprayer, remove its mounting nut and pull it out.

4. Install the New Faucet

Gasket/Putty: Place the faucet's rubber gasket or apply plumber's putty around the base.

Insert Faucet: Feed the faucet through the mounting hole(s). If using a deck plate, align it to cover the existing holes.

Secure Mounting: Under the sink, attach the mounting bracket and tighten the nuts evenly with a basin wrench. Avoid over-tightening.

5. Connect the Water Supply Lines

Plumber's Tape: Wrap Teflon tape around the threads of the faucet's hot and cold inlets.

Attach Lines: Connect the supply lines to both the faucet and shut-off valves, ensuring the hot and cold lines are correctly connected.

6. Test for Leaks

Slowly turn on the water supply and check all connections for leaks.

Tighten any loose fittings gently if needed.

7. Test the Faucet

Run water through both the hot and cold sides to flush out any debris.

Test the Sprayer: If your kitchen sink faucet with sprayer, engage the diverter (usually a button) to ensure proper water flow.

8. Final Adjustments

If your kitchen sink faucet has a pull-out sprayer, attach the hose weight (if included) to help with retraction.

Ensure the sprayer hose is not kinked under the sink.

Common Mistakes

Skipping Teflon tape: Causes slow leaks.

Overtightening: Strips threads or cracks porcelain.

Ignoring manufacturer instructions: Each model varies!

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Leaks: Re-tighten connections or replace worn washers.
Low Sprayer Pressure: Check for kinked hoses or a clogged diverter.
Loose Faucet: Tighten the mounting nuts evenly.

By following these steps, you can ensure a secure installation and optimal performance of your new kitchen faucet.
