According to reports, an April survey in the Karuizawa area of Kamaya City found that the concentration of organic fluoride in seven wells exceeded the national provisional standard for tap water in Japan (50 ng/L).
In response, the city expanded the scope of the additional survey last month and found that the concentration of organic fluoride in 13 of the 31 wells exceeded the standard, with the highest exceeding the standard by 700 times.
The report said that so far, no news of changes in the physical condition of residents has been received.
The city government called on local residents not to drink the water directly.
